The 8 Steps to Academic Independence gives your child the opportunity to fully understand the curriculum skill, and transition into working with the skill on their own, and apply it to real life situations while becoming independent learners and thinkers.

We provide full tutoring in all subject areas from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8, preparing your child for their High School Years.

PRE-ASSESSMENT

We Pre-Assess your child on each provincial curriculum skill in the grade and subject area where you feel your child requires support. We then build your child’s program based on the results of the assessment. (JK-Grd.8)

ONTARIO CERTIFIED TEACHERS

We provide each student with an Ontario Certified Teacher to work with your child to administer all programming. (JK-Grd.8)

ON-LINE TUTORING

We provide in-home and on-line tutoring by an Ontario Certified Teacher in the comfort of your child’s home. You can record each session for future reference.  We provide each student with 2 Ontario Certified Teachers: One that develops your child’s programming and the other that works with your child to administer the programming. (JK-Grd.8)

NO REGISTRATION FEES

We never charge a registration fee.

MONTH TO MONTH BILLING

We provide convenient monthly payment plans based on the number of hours your child learns with us with no long-term commitment required or any up-front fees for our tutoring plans.

COMPETITIVE RATES

We never request thousands of dollars up-front so that you may secure a lower hourly rate for our tutoring as our hourly rates are already competitive and low for the value you will be receiving.

DETAILED REPORTS

We provide on-going detailed reports on your child’s progress that provide a comparison to when your child began with us, to how they have improved and what we will be doing next.

ON-LINE OR IN-PERSON

We provide on-line and in-home individual and group classes from J.K. to Grade 8 covering all subjects.

Superior Students Tutoring Academy has developed a unique Instructional Path for its academic programs, that checks-in with you and your child along the way to ensure you and your child are happy with the program. Your child is held accountable for their learning and successfully showcases their accomplishments of their defined learning opportunities.

Superior Students Tutoring Academy conducts a Pre-Assessment that directly assesses against your child’s curriculum. (JK-Grd.8). This Pre-Assessment determines your child’s grade level and reveals your child’s learning opportunities, and allows Superior Students Tutoring Academy to develop your child’s programming with us.

Superior Students Tutoring Academy never repeats the Pre-Assessment. Our Check-Point Assessments assess exactly what your child has covered in their program to date, and we ensure your child is more than ready for each Check-Point Assessment by conducting review sessions as part of the Superior Students Tutoring Academy program.

Superior Students Tutoring Academy provides detailed reports on your child’s progress, as well as for each Check-Point Assessment, so that we are continuously discovering your child’s learning opportunities and providing instruction that absolutely adheres to their specific and changing needs.

Approaching the completion of the program, we review with your child all program skills covered. Your child then showcases their knowledge through a last Check-Point Assessment. From this assessment we develop one final detailed report representing your child’s accomplishments and suggested next steps.

Superior Students Learning Academy has math programs specifically catered to global curriculums.
Math, we may not realize is everywhere.  Math happens in real life where kids may not realize. The basics are crucial foundations for basic math needs in the world and to be used as a foundation for more complex math  and sciences in high school. If your child is expressing the desire to become an astronomer, meteorologist, animator, game designer, sports announcer, pilot or even a roller coaster designer – they all require math skills – and more complex math skills, that come from the basic foundations of math as taught in the elementary and intermediate school years. The provincial math curriculum to grade 8 undertakes 5 strands, each with its own set of skills:

Student teaches back to teacher lesson concepts.

6 REALITY CHECK

Student and teacher brainstorm where the lesson knowledge comes in handy in real life.

7 YOU’RE READY TO DO IT

Student works independently on a series of questions to show understanding.

8 FINAL CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING

Student works independently on a series of questions in the next session to show retention of topic concepts.

About Our Founder

Alexandra Stabins is the president and founder of Superior Students Tutoring Academy. 

Alexandra believes that your child deserves the opportunity to learn, and to receive the support he or she needs to succeed at learning. Alexandra knows that a uniform way of teaching does not benefit every child as every child is a unique learner, therefore every child requires a unique teaching process. Though Superior Students Tutoring Academy does work with an “8 Step” learning process, Superior Students Tutoring Academy adjusts the process based on the needs of your child so that he or she becomes a successful learner.

Alexandra has worked with and researched major tutoring companies and independent and private schools, and has observed practices that don’t meet her high standard of delivering education. Alexandra has gathered parent feedback and testimonials and decided that  a focused needs approach best benefits each child through an effective learning process that develops a child’s learning at their own pace.

Alexandra has made certain that Superior Students Tutoring Academy is not a traditional academy. Superior Students Tutoring Academy does not supplement learning – Superior Students Tutoring Academy works with your child so that they develop the foundations to support their continued learning, and develop the knowledge and skills to become independent learners and thinkers.

Alexandra’s credentials include a M.Sc.Ed. with a Concentration in Mathematics and a B.A. in English, and well over 25 years in professional roles that have allowed her to develop a strong business acumen and an educational business model for Superior Students Tutoring Academy that aims to provide every child with the opportunity for educational success. Learning must not be a privilege, but a right each child has, and Superior Students Tutoring Academy wants to give each child that access and we will work with them to ensure that takes place.
